Before Your Agent Pays, Ask Who Delivers
Imagine this.
It's 3 a.m. and your AI agent is working while you sleep. It needs a data feed, finds a seller, gets a price quote and pays. The payment settles on-chain in seconds. It's final.
Nothing comes back.
So it tries again, and pays again. By morning it has paid the same broken seller over and over, and not once did anything come back.
Your agent did exactly what it was built to do. It just had no way to know who delivers.
Now imagine it checked first.
Lumi has a new mark today: the North Star, the fixed point of light people have steered by for centuries.
It fits the work. As AI agents start paying for things on their own, they need something steady to check against: a public record of which sellers actually deliver.
Agents can pay now
AI agents are starting to buy things: a data feed, a market brief, one API call at a time.
Much of it runs on x402. An agent asks for a price, pays in a stablecoin like USDC, and gets the answer. No account, no API key, no sales call.
It's fast. It's final. And there's no refund button.
The catch
Most sellers deliver. Some don't. The endpoint errors, times out, or takes the payment and sends back nothing useful.
A person might notice after one bad buy. An agent moving at machine speed could repeat the mistake many times before anyone looks.
What Lumi does
We test-buy x402 sellers on XRPL, Base and Stellar, keep a signed receipt for every buy, and publish the results, so your agent knows who delivers.
- Check the quote. Is the price readable and payable?
- Make a small real purchase. A few cents from Lumi's own wallet. Did real data come back?
- Record the result. Lumi keeps a signed receipt for every buy, and the delivery result goes on the public trust list. Transaction details come with the $0.02 vendor report.
When we wrote this on Oct 23, 2026, the trust list covered 29,923 x402 listings across 2,350 seller domains, with 1,152 paid test-buys on record. It keeps growing, and the live count is at lumitrades.io/trust.
In our latest XRPL run, we checked all 98 third-party hosts in a public x402 directory that offer XRPL payment. We bought from 93. Only 82 sent back data.
That gap between "paid" and "delivered" is why this exists.
One rule we don't bend: paying Lumi never changes a seller's score. Scores come from delivery results only, and our conflicts policy at lumitrades.io/trust-policy lists any seller who pays us. Right now, none do.
Who it's for
- Teams and institutions: a neutral record of who delivered, backed by a signed receipt for every buy.
- People new to agent payments: start with a small budget, and look a seller up at lumitrades.io/trust before your agent pays.
- Agents and developers: the trust list is free over the API. A pre-payment check answers allow, warn or block for $0.004, paid over x402 itself. Docs at api.lumitrades.io.
The North Star
A fixed star never told travelers where to go. It told them where they stood.
That's our role. We don't tell anyone what to buy. We keep a steady record of what happened, so people and their agents can find their own way.
Agents are going to pay for a lot of things. They should know who delivers first.
